Early Years Training Courses

The Roles and Responsibilities of the Designated Person

This 6 hour course is for all those who have responsibility of referral and subsequent involvement with families throughout any additional processes (CAF/CIN/CP). This interactive course will consider your role and responsibility via policies, referrals, working with other professionals and supporting staff.

The following workshops, although not directly related to Safeguarding, are an important and often crucial element to consider when observing and making professional judgements about children:

Thinking Positively about Children's Behaviour

This 6 hour course will discuss, through interactive group work and facilitation, the what, why and how of behaviour and consider the importance of developing resilience in children. We will also compare and contrast positive strategies to meet the needs of the unique child.

The Importance of Children's Emotional Well Being and Social Development

In this half-day workshop we will explore brain development, attachment, acknowledging feelings, making relationships and ways forward to increase a child's self-esteem, sense of identity and confidence. It is also important to acknowledge the adult's role within this process and therefore some teamwork exercises and personal reflection will be an integral part of this day.

Exploring How to use the United Nations Rights of the Child in Everyday Practice

Children's Rights are an integral part of the early years ethos and is something that perhaps has not been given the attention it deserves. In this half-day workshop you will use various Articles to explore how this can be addressed in your practice and how children, parents and other professionals can benefit from using this model.

Becoming More Assertive

This half-day workshop will help you to identify areas for personal and professional development, feel more confident as an employer and employee, examine the 'iceberg' within us all and develop strategies to take you forward in a positive way.
